San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum (SDCDM) will be holding their 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Week September 18-22, Monday- Friday, 9:30am-4:30pm. Each day, attendees will be able to get free check-ups and participate in workshops around different topics provided by local health and wellness organizations.

This year’s Health & Wellness Week themes include: Nutrition, Fitness, Safety, Dental, Developmental Milestones (Vision, Hearing, Speech & Language), Mental Health & Mindfulness, Self-Care, and Financial Literacy.

SDCDM, a Live Well San Diego Recognized Partner since April 2016, is very excited about this special event and the opportunity to engage with community partners to provide health and wellness resources to Museum visitors and the community at large.

Activities vary each day and include a variety of topics, such as:

  • Presentations on infant and toddler nutrition
  • Home, bike, and child passenger safety
  • Good sleep
  • Caregiver & Me fitness classes
  • Vision screenings and blood pressure checks
  • Mobile dental services
  • Workshops on dental care, financial literacy and healthy eating
  • Ages & Stages questionnaires
  • Yoga and meditation

Each day will also have themed story times and crafts for the kids.

All workshops and check-ups are FREE with Museum admission. All participants will also receive one opportunity drawing ticket for each workshop or organization's table that they visit throughout the week.

More than 150,000 visitors visit the Museum annually, with an anticipated 45,000 children and family visitors during the summer and 1,500 visitors during Health & Wellness Week. SDCDM is reaching out to the community for support for their Health & Wellness Week event through sponsorship, vendor participation, and in-kind services.
