Consumer Advocates for RCFE Reform (CARR) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on December 12, 2016. Since its founding as a not-for-profit (501(c)3) organization in 2009, CARR has actively promoted safe, quality residential care for San Diego’s senior population. CARR is dedicated to improving resident care in California’s assisted living facilities by educating consumers and increasing industry accountability. CARR’s core mission supports both the Live Well San Diego regional vision, as well as the County’s initiative to establish San Diego County as an Age Friendly Community under the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Program.
CARR’s impact manifests through multiple venues: California state law, a nationwide award for Open Government, and a rating system for California's assisted living facilities:
CARR anticipates its on-going work will continue to amplify the voices of consumers and providers alike and is committed to advancing the Live Well San Diego vision and making San Diego an Age-Friendly Community for elders.
