Leap to Success (LEAP) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on March 6, 2017. Founded in 2008, the non-profit organization exists to provide valuable leadership, public speaking, and skill building programs to women to assist them in overcoming various challenges, build self-sufficiency and renew self-confidence.
The organization’s focus on empowerment and helping residents learn skills to achieve a high quality of life closely supports the Live Well San Diego vision for healthy, safe, and thriving communities. Partnering closely with over 40 social service agencies in the County, LEAP works with case managers, therapists and employment specialists throughout the community. To date, over 1,000 women across San Diego County have completed Leap to Success programs. Many graduates have gone on to participate in monthly follow-up classes or returned to assist LEAP staff as volunteers in the classrooms.
Leap to Confidence, the organization’s main program, is a 7-week course focused on an array of personal leadership skills that include interpersonal communication, establishing healthy boundaries, being assertive, reframing negative thinking, managing stress, dealing with difficult people and presenting with confidence. Initially, classes were provided to domestic violence survivors to provide them with the support and skills needed to believe in themselves and help them avoid returning to abusive partners. The organization has since expanded this focus to also serve women overcoming homelessness, substance abuse, mental health challenges, and poverty. LEAP embraces a forward-thinking approach that emphasizes preparing for the future and teaches skills to women to help them move beyond where they are to where they want to be.
LEAP is committed to the Live Well San Diego vision by continuing training and support for those in need and collaborating to create healthy, safe, and thriving communities.
