The Leucadia 101 Main Street Association joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on January 25, 2014. The Leucadia 101 Main Street Association became a Live Well San Diego partner by aligning their services to their members and the community at large to support healthy, safe, and thriving lives. This work includes hosting the Leucadia Farmers Market each week and creating a safe atmosphere for families and people of all ages to gather in the community. The Leucadia 101 Main Street Association hosts an array of events year round that are free to the public and include outdoor music, public art and encourages residents to use their downtown by walking and exploring what it has to offer. In addition, the Association works closely with the City of Encinitas on a variety of projects to make the downtown safer and more accessible to the public. A recent project was the bike sharrow (shared lane marking) and lane diet (reduction in driving lanes to allow space for the addition of bike lanes) implementation along N. Coast Hwy 101. This project makes it safer for cyclists to ride through Leucadia and safer for locals to get around via bicycle. In addition they sponsor Encinitas Wellness Week, a week-long program of events and special offers designed to engage the public in learning about and experiencing ways to improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The Leucadia 101 Main Street Association is committed to continuing their past efforts to support healthy lives, and will strive to find new ways to improve the health and well-being of their community.
