The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego became a recognized Live Well San Diego partner on March 8th, 2017. Established in 2012, the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego (OCASD) is committed to eradicating ovarian cancer. OCASD actively works towards advancing cancer research and educating the medical community and general public through outreach programs for early diagnosis and improving the quality of care for patients. Addressing legislative issues that affect evidence-based cancer care and research is also a top priority for the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego.
With the help of an all-volunteer staff, the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego collaborates with institutions and organizations throughout the region to bring about the message of empowerment for all women. OCASD encourages women to be their own best advocates when it comes to their healthcare, all with the goal of saving more women’s lives. Through outreach programs titled H.E.A.R (Hope, Experiences, Awareness, and Risk Factors) and S.T.S (Survivors Teaching Students), the OCASD partners with community groups and the medical community to share personal stories of survival and the importance of early detection of Ovarian Cancer.
The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego is committed to continuing its efforts in contribution to a healthy, safe, and thriving community, and looks forward to collaborating and continuing to find ways to align their work with the Live Well San Diego vision.
