Project Concern International

Project Concern International (PCI) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on May 29, 2015. PCI is a global non-profit, humanitarian organization that empowers people with the tools necessary to enhance health, end hunger and overcome hardship.

PCI has shared the values of Live Well San Diego, particularly by the way the organization promotes healthy, safe, and thriving communities in San Diego County and across the Globe. PCI is committed to continuing to advance Live Well San Diego into the future by:

  • Providing health education on prevention of chronic diseases, including heart health, diabetes, stroke and cancer
  • Conducting monthly home visits with pregnant women to offer referrals for needed services, one-on-one and group-based parenting education, and personal development support
  • Engaging fathers and male partners through group activities to learn how to improve their own health and lead resilient families
  • Collaborating with partner agencies through the Community Action Network (CAN), San Diego Chronic Disease Coalition, Border Health Consortium of the Californias and Live Well San Diego Regional Leadership Teams
  • Providing ongoing wellness programs for PCI staff members

Additionally, through PCI’s Ventanillas de Salud (VDS), health educators provide information, resources and referrals to Hispanic immigrants on a variety of health topics. San Diego’s VDS was the first in the nation and it has been replicated by Mexican consulates in all 50 states.
