San Diego Trauma Research and Education Foundation

The San Diego Trauma Research and Education Foundation (TREF) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on February 27th, 2017. TREF coordinates professional education programs for trauma clinicians to improve quality of care, provides safety education programs to the public about trauma as a disease and trauma prevention, and supports evidence-based practice through grant-funding of scientific research in the care and treatment of trauma victims. Their membership is composed of physicians, nurses, and community volunteers who are passionate about injury prevention and advancing trauma care throughout our community.

The San Diego Trauma Research and Education Foundation is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1983 to represent San Diego’s Trauma Care System. They are dedicated to reducing the number of trauma related deaths and injuries in San Diego County through awareness, education, prevention programs, and associated research programs. Their core purpose is to educate, train, and inspire medical professionals, emergency response teams, community groups and schools, and the public in ways that help people lead healthy, active lives.

The San Diego Trauma Research and Education Foundation is committed to continuing to advance Live Well San Diego into the future, and is embracing strategies of this initiative in the following ways:

  • Train trauma professionals and encourage the active learning of the trauma community
  • Raise funds to facilitate research and knowledge sharing between trauma professionals
  • Enhance collaborative efforts between trauma centers and the community
  • Foster safety education and injury prevention activities to reduce preventable deaths and injuries
