Santee Community Collaborative

The Santee Community Collaborative joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on January 19, 2016. Formed in 1997, the goal of the collaborative is to unite the Santee community by promoting a healthier and more proactive community that builds resilient children and families.

Committed to creating a healthy, safe and thriving community, the Santee Community Collaborative has been an active member of the Live Well San Diego East Region Leadership Team since the team’s inception, specifically with the substance abuse prevention workgroup. The Santee Community Collaborative continues to work towards improving self-sufficiency, homeless, workforce development, and access to social services and advocacy through continually sharing ideas with fellow organizations throughout the region.

The Santee Community Collaborative has supported initiatives for Safe Routes to School, veteran’s activities, intergenerational activities and volunteering in the San Diego region. They are at the forefront of fostering a healthy environment through multiple approaches including physical activity, civic engagement, workforce development, homeless outreach and fostering a tobacco and drug-free community. The Collaborative has worked with the City of Santee and Circulate San Diego to develop a master plan for Safe Routes to School and also supports the Tobacco Use Prevention and Education (TUPE) grant for Santee School District and Grossmont District. In order to keep the community safe, the Collaborative partners with the River Park Conservancy to hire park patrol volunteers who routinely patrol the riverbed throughout Santee.

Through continued efforts, the Santee Community Collaborative aims to strategically integrate community resources which shape resilient children and families. The Santee Community Collaborative looks forward to future collaborations in support of the Live Well San Diego vision.
