Terra American Bistro joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on October 23, 2014. Terra American Bistro’s focus on locally-grown, sustainable and organic ingredients in their New American farm-to-table meals has won the palates of those looking for a tasty and nutritious meal, garnering numerous awards and accolades. Chef Jeff Rossman, Owner and Executive Chef, has demonstrated a commitment to the nutrition of his customers and the youth in the community at large by participating on the Farm to School Taskforce, a subcommittee of the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative; by hosting a cooking class for the Farm to School club for students and parents of the Lemon Grove School District; and by donating a considerable amount of his free time to a variety of organizations and causes. Terra American Bistro provided knife skills training for the Lemon Grove School District kitchen staff to ensure proper training to prepare fresh foods for their students, as well as encourage more comprehensive nutrition education in local schools. Furthermore, Terra American Bistro is collaborating with school districts to implement Harvest of the Month in lunchrooms and after-school curricula.
In 2014, Terra American Bistro became first restaurant certified as a “San Diego Grown 365 Retail Market,” a branding initiative of the Farm Bureau of San Diego County to promote and identify produce grown in San Diego County.
As a Live Well San Diego partner, Terra American Bistro is committed to continuing to advance Live Well San Diego by working within the community and local schools to educate, promote and support nutritious choices and a healthy lifestyle.
