Jazmin Garcia, Community Relations Officer, San Diego County Credit Union

As part of our commitment to helping individuals make educated financial decisions and improve overall economic well-being, San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU) is proud to support National Consumer Protection Week, taking place March 6 -12. This effort includes providing educational resources to help keep community members and their finances safe. SDCCU is dedicated to sharing resources that help people avoid fraud and scams by teaching them what to look for and how to implement strategies to protect their finances.

SDCCU is hosting the following webinars on Wednesday, March 9:

·       Elder Financial Abuse Prevention,

·       Internet Safety for Your Kids, and

·       Current Scams and How to Protect Your Finances.

The webinars are open to the public and anyone can register, they are also complemented with regular blogs, social media posts, and press releases alerting the public of current scams and other information relevant to financial health.

The webinars hosted during National Consumer Protection Week are part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays, an ongoing program hosted by SDCCU to help provide the community access to free financial wellness information on various topics appropriate for different stages of life ranging from kids to elders. We invite the community to these complimentary webinars and resources regardless of membership status to help increase your financial knowledge. Upcoming topics, dates and times can be found at

National Consumer Protection Week encourages the community to learn more about their consumer rights and how to keep themselves secure. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sponsored National Consumer Protection Week since 1998, and provides free resources to protect consumers from fraud, scams and identity theft. If you think you’ve been a victim of a scam, report it to the FTC at
