American Academy of Pediatrics – California Chapter 3 (AAP-CA3)
joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on June 29,
2015. AAP-CA3 is dedicated to achieving physical, mental health and
social well-being for all infants, children and adolescents in San
Diego and Imperial Counties. AAP-CA3 is committed to transforming San
Diego to be the best place for children and families to live. They
provide leadership to projects that annually touch the lives of over
100,000 children and families in San Diego County. AAP-CA3 has
demonstrated leadership in promoting the importance of early childhood
health by:
- Making connections among organizations that serve children and
families in our community
- Providing trainings and technical
assistance to pediatricians and other service providers to bring
cutting edge practices that help them best serve children and
families
- Partnering with First 5 San Diego to provide
countywide coordination and support to the Healthy Development
Services project and First 5 First Steps home visitation
program
- Increasing school readiness and parent engagement to
promote thriving families through the Reach Out and Read San Diego
program delivering early literacy guidance and books to families
with children 6 months through 5 years of age
- Combating
childhood obesity by working with the San Diego County Childhood
Obesity Initiative and implementing program curriculums that
emphasize the importance of proper nutrition and physical
activity
- Working with local pediatricians and partners to be
heard locally and in Sacramento, regarding advocacy issues related
to children’s issues
- Partnering with the County of San
Diego Health & Human Services Agency to enhance behavioral
health care capacity in the pediatric medical home
AAP-CA3 is committed to continuing to advance Live Well San Diego
into the future, and is embracing helpful strategies including
Trauma Informed Services and Evidence Based Practices.
