The Identity Theft Resource Center joined Live Well San Diego as a Recognized Partner on December 12, 2016. The Identity Theft Resource Center is a non-profit organization established in 1999 to provide no-cost assistance to victims of identity theft across the United States in resolving their cases and to broaden public education and awareness in the understanding of identity theft, data breaches, cyber security, scams/fraud and privacy issues.
The Identity Theft Resource Center strives to stop the hardship and helplessness caused by identity theft and cybercrime and typically helps 10,000 unique individuals annually through its toll-free helpline, website live chat feature as well as through its ID Theft Help app. This free app, which was funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, provides information for consumers on how to protect themselves from identity theft, helps them track their cases should they become a victim and also provides one-on-one assistance as needed.
The Identity Theft Resource Center actively works with law enforcement agencies to provide identity theft victim training, presentation materials, information and victim support. In addition, it educates all stakeholders on best practices for fraud and identity theft detection, reduction, and mitigation.
The Identity Theft Resource Center aims to support positive choices for living safely by empowering our community to actively protect their identity and be aware of issues affecting their privacy. The Identity Theft Resource Center is committed to advancing the Live Well San Diego vision and making a greater impact together as a recognized partner.
