HEALTHY, SAFE AND THRIVING COMMUNITIES IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY
The Lake San Marcos Community Association joined Live Well San
Diego as a recognized partner on May 22, 2014. The Association was
formed to represent Lake San Marcos, an unincorporated area of San
Diego County, in discussions and negotiations with county, city and
state organizations. It has since transformed into an organization
that not only serves in facilitating the interests of its members and
the overall community, but advocates for, encourages and supports a
wide range of positive, group interactions that result in healthier
individuals, a better quality of life, and an all-round vibrant
community. The Lake San Marcos Community Association is committed to
ensuring their residents have ample opportunities for meaningful
engagement with one another by promoting and providing activities that
represent the varied interests of its residents including service
clubs, music performances, educational lectures, and more. They are
dedicated to supporting the upkeep and use of recreational facilities
such as pools, tennis courts, golf courses and beach areas to make
physical activity fun and accessible. Additionally, they are committed
to enhancing and supporting community engagement by providing a
comprehensive, engaging newsletter, The Quail Call, to 2,400 residents
on a monthly basis.
The Lake San Marcos Community
Association recognizes the need for ensuring the enhanced health and
ongoing safety of residents; therefore, they provide disaster
preparedness, palliative care, FEMA flood emergency and Citizen
Emergency Response Team (CERT) trainings. Additionally, the
Association recognizes the immense benefits of collaboration and
partnership and intentionally engages with local schools and colleges,
including San Marcos High School, High Tech High, and Palomar College
to enhance their impact with the community at large. Moving forward,
the Lake San Marcos Community Association aims to foster
intergenerational and intercultural opportunities, continue to provide
ample opportunities for meaningful engagement, support and maintain
access to recreational facilities, and host ongoing health and safety
preparedness workshops to enhance and benefit the quality of life for
its residents. The Lake San Marcos Community Association is fully
committed to supporting the vision of the Live Well San Diego
initiative on the path to promoting healthy, safe and thriving
communities in the North County region.
