National Alliance on Mental Illness San Diego

The National Alliance on Mental Illness – San Diego (NAMI San Diego) joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on May 2, 2015. NAMI San Diego became a Live Well San Diego partner because of their commitment to inform, educate and support individuals with mental illness and their families and end stigma associated with mental illness. NAMI San Diego offers a helpline, support groups, educational meetings, newsletters, a lending library and numerous classes on mental illness throughout San Diego County.

For ten years and counting, NAMI San Diego has hosted the San Diego County NAMI Walks where thousands of individuals come together to walk and raise awareness of mental health. The 2014 NAMI Walks was the first year NAMI San Diego and the County’s Behavioral Health Services formally partnered to create an exceptional day including a Live Well San Diego Expo featuring over 100 County  and community resource vendors, family activities and entertainment. The event was a success with more than 3,000 participants in attendance.

NAMI San Diego will continue their work to reach all of the community with their programs to help those affected by mental illness and replace stigma with understanding.
