The Surfing Madonna Oceans Project joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on October 24, 2015 at the 3rd annual Surfing Madonna Beach Run event in Encinitas. The Project became a Live Well San Diego partner by demonstrating the principles of healthy and thriving communities through its mission to unite the community to “Save the Ocean” and protect the coastline.
Through youth education programs, ocean conservation grants, marine mammal rescue/recovery initiatives, and helping children with special needs & Wounded Warriors experience the healing power of the ocean, the Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is helping to expand the community of ocean advocates.
Since its inception in 2011, the Surfing Madonna mosaic has inspired people to re-think their actions and understand their role as powerful agents of change. The Surfing Madonna Oceans Project brings the community together through events that promote sustainability, oceanic responsibility and a healthy lifestyle. Since 2013, the Project has donated thousands of dollars to ocean conservation initiatives and humanitarian projects including the Surf Camp for Special Needs Children, oceanography scholarships, marine mammal rescue equipment and student grants for ocean-minded projects. The Project has also donated floating beach wheelchairs and mobility mats for physically disabled people to access the water at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. Moving forward, the Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is fully committed to the Live Well San Diego vision and will continue to build and support programs that promote environmental education, ocean accessibility and enjoyment for people of all ages and abilities.
