Volunteers in Medicine San Diego joined Live Well San Diego as a recognized partner on September 28, 2017. Volunteers in Medicine offers integrated medical services to improve health outcomes and access to healthcare services to the underserved and uninsured members of the community. Volunteers in Medicine provides medical care, nutrition education and supported services. They are committed to improving the health of the communities they serve through collective partnership with physicians, nurses, and support staff, to improve the health outcomes of the men, women, and children they serve.
Through their nutrition education program, community gardening and smoking cessation program, Volunteers in Medicine is enhancing knowledge and awareness of the importance of medical care and offering medical and education resources that result in greater patient care, positive behavior change , and access to healthcare resources. They are committed to serving all those in need and opening the doors to healthcare access by collaborating with various partners including the East County YMCA, Ready San Diego, and County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services.
