Jennifer Tabanico

President of Action Research

"Community-Based Social Marketing"


Jennifer Tabanico is President and owner of Action Research, a firm that specializes in changing behavior for the public good by applying marketing and social science research to outreach programs that promote clean, healthy, and sustainable communities.


Ms. Tabanico has a Master of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology from California State University San Marcos and more than 16 years of experience developing behavior change programs for public and private agencies, including the City and County of San Diego.

Ms. Tabanico has authored or co-authored works in academic and technical outlets including the Journal of Environmental Psychology, Social Influence, Criminology, the Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Environment and Behavior, and Social Marketing Quarterly. She also currently serves as an Editorial Board member for Social Marketing Quarterly and as an instructor for the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Extension’s Behavior Change and Sustainability certificate program.  

At the Summit, Ms. Tabinico will discuss Community-Based Social Marketing as a tool for influencing behavior change. It is used by those who develop and deliver programs to promote health and sustainability to encourage individuals to adopt corresponding lifestyles.
