The team at Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center annually seeks interns to assist with educational programs for kids, youth, and adults. The intent is to have each intern learn alongside experienced education, nutrition, and agriculture staff to gain real-world skills and experience working with a non-profit organization.

Two of their current interns are highlighted below:

April Flowers sowing seeds at olivewoodMeet April Flowers, a passionate Dietetic Intern at Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center, whose journey is fueled by a personal connection to her family's health-related challenges. April is on a mission to inspire individuals of all ages to embrace healthier habits in both exercise and nutrition.

Motivated by her family's experiences, April envisions establishing her own wellness center, inspired by the transformative impact she has seen at  Olivewood Gardens. Her vision goes beyond traditional approaches, as she aims to incorporate a physical component, fostering holistic well-being for her community.

April's infectious enthusiasm is evident as she wholeheartedly inspires children to make healthier lifestyle choices. Join us in celebrating April's commitment to fostering a healthier and happier community, one positive choice at a time!

Passionate about health and wellness, Ashley has embarked on her second career journey to become a Registered Dietitian. Her mission is clear: empower communities of color to take control of their health and manage diseases through culturally informed nutrition.

Ashley envisions a future where the rich tapestry of cultural foods is celebrated for their inherent health benefits.  She firmly believes in making simple, culturally appropriate modifications to our diets.

"Our cultural foods are healthy already. We simply need to be reminded to nourish our body."

Currently enrolled in the Diversify Dietetics Internship program, Ashley is committed to bringing diversity and inclusivity to the field.  We are thankful for Ashley's unwavering dedication to fostering well-being and making a positive impact on health education!
