Paradise Valley Hospital- Walking Grp

In 1988, the Center for Health Promotion, a department of Paradise Valley Hospital, began a mall-walking program in National City in collaboration with Plaza Bonita Mall. Now in its 36th year, the program is a source of pride, and, according to the mall, it is the largest organized mall-walking program in the country.

The group meets every Thursday and boasts over 200 regular attendees. Members "walk the mall" and also attend a low-impact Zumba class during their visits.

CLUB Walk is a self-paced walking program that not only improves the physical health of participants but also enhances their mental and social wellness. Once a month, the program offers blood pressure screenings and has seen results such as more controlled blood pressures, weight loss, better blood sugar levels, and more. The oldest member is 96 years old. Members also enjoy health education lectures and an annual anniversary celebration.
