The FACT 17th Annual Board of Directors welcomed dozens of attendees to the Coronado Community Center on December 5, 2023 to celebrate a year of accomplishments for the ride service while looking ahead to goals for 2024.
FACT stands for Facilitating Access to Coordinated Transportation. The nonprofit coordinates public, nonprofit, private and other transportation services to provide low-cost access to transportation for seniors, persons with disabilities, veterans, low-income individuals and other disadvantaged populations in San Diego County.
FACT has provided over 350,760 one-way trips from its inception in 2010 through December 2023.
June 2023 marked a significant moment for FACT when it received competitive grant funding from SANDAG and the California Public Utilities Commission to launch a pioneering transportation service in San Diego County. RideFACTNOW, the first service of its kind in the region, began offering on-demand, affordable, and wheelchair-accessible transportation on June 21. Powered by Access for All funds, RideFACTNOW bridges the gap in regional transportation, providing a dependable, accessible, and convenient travel solution at the fingertips of community members with disabilities.
The demand for RideFACTNOW has been growing steadily: it serves all 18 cities, as well as the suburban and rural areas of San Diego County, with a fleet of wheelchair-accessible vehicles. RideFACTNOW is not just a service; it’s a commitment to inclusivity and mobility for all.
In 2023, FACT enhanced its fleet with the acquisition of a new hybrid electric Toyota Sienna and a new Ford Transit. These vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts and seat up to five passengers each. This upgrade significantly boosts the service’s ability to cater to diverse needs.
"You have made an enormous difference in my life! I am very pleased with your services!" said Antoinette, San Diego.
"I am amazed! You're amazing! Your services are truly life saving!" said Beatrice, National City.
