From Walk With Me Impact

At Walk With Me Impact, we are dedicated to uplifting the community by providing mentorship and support to at-risk youth throughout San Diego. 

Since the return to school, we’ve expanded our efforts in multiple schools within the San Diego Unified School District by bringing mentors into classrooms to deliver a curriculum focused on critical topics such as fentanyl awareness, anti-bullying, coping with loss, and building healthy relationships. Our program aims to equip students with the skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Many of our mentors were once at-risk youth themselves and they now return to the same schools they attended. This personal experience fosters trust and empathy, creating a safe space for students to share their struggles.  

Recently, at San Diego High School, a student asked, “What if I’ve experienced loss, but they’re not actually dead?” The mentor responded by validating the student’s feelings, affirming that their pain was real and significant, even if the person they lost was still alive. The relief was visible—the student had finally been given the space to express something they had been carrying alone. 

The effects of our program are clear. Students feel heard, understood, and supported in a safe, productive learning environment. Our partnership with San Diego Unified School District allows us to reach more students and empower the next generation through these impactful mentor-student relationships. 

At Walk With Me Impact, our work doesn’t stop in the classroom. We provide ongoing mentorship, training, and resources for youth and advocates, addressing issues such as gun violence, substance abuse, and human trafficking. Our curriculum helps youth make informed decisions, improve their emotional well-being, and connect to positive influences in their lives.
